West Branch man avoids serious injury in accident

CUMMING TWP. — A West Branch man received only minor injuries in an accident that could have resulted in much more serious injuries when he lost control of his vehicle late Feb. 6.

Nicolaus Ryon Egan, 24, of West Branch was traveling northbound on M-33 near Scribner Road when his vehicle hit the shoulder of the road. Egan steered back onto the roadway but was unable to maintain control and his vehicle eventually re-exited the roadway on the east side of the road, according to the Michigan State Police accident report.

After leaving the roadway, Egan’s vehicle crashed into trees in the ditch, leaving it badly damaged and disabled.

Egan sustained only minor injuries in the crash, according to the report.
