WB-RC Music Boosters to throw annual Christmas Bazaar

WEST BRANCH — The West Branch-Rose City Music Boosters are once again hosting their Christmas Bazaar to raise funds for the music program Saturday, Dec. 1.

The annual event will feature live performances by the high school choir and jazz band, a bake sale and more than 100 vendors, music boosters Vice President Teresa Noel said.

There will also be food available for purchase, including soup bowls, nachos, salads and more.

The event, which has been going on for more than 25 years, usually raises around $4,000 and is one of four major fundraisers done throughout the year, Noel said.

“It supports a really good cause,” she said.

Some common expenses include buying and fixing instruments for students. The money will support sixth- through eighth-grade band, high school band and jazz band and seventh- through eighth-grade choir and high school choir, Noel said.

The fundraiser usually draws a large crowd and fills the entire school, she added.

Noel, a 1996 Ogemaw Heights graduate, said she was in band as a student. Two of her daughters who have graduated from the school were also in band, and her seventh-grade son currently is.

“It just kind of floats in the family,” she said.

Music provides students with a sense of family, teaches responsibility and gives students something to do, Noel said.

The event is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Ogemaw Heights High School.
