Strong storms leave nearly 5,000 without power

OGEMAW COUNTY - A strong storm system moved through the area July 6, knocking trees and powerlines down and left 4,894 residents without power in Ogemaw County.
"We have been working to restore customers since Thursday evening when the storms first hit Northern Michigan," said Guy Packard, Consumers Energy vice president of electric operations in a press release. "Additional storms early Friday across western and central Michigan have us working around the clock to restore power. We appreciate our customers' patience."
According to the Consumers Energy website July 6, an estimate 28 percent of the county was in the dark with the highest amount of outages being reported in the West Branch zip code, with 2,396 customers being without power. In Rose City an estimate 155 were in the dark. Lupton was reporting 894 residents (an estimated 41.9 percent of Consumers' customers) without power. Hale was reporting 2,178 without and in Prescott 628 were in the dark.
On the morning of July 7, the estimated Ogemaw County residents without power dropped to 3,060.
Crews are assigned to all reported outages and there is an estimated restoration time of July 7 at 11:30 p.m., according to the website.
According to the press release, the across Michigan storms with winds approaching 55 mph left more than 130,000 without power.

Got a Robo call at 2:30 am saying the restoration time for Gerald Miller road is now Sat July 8th at 11:30 pm I sure hope it doesn't take that long.
