WEST BRANCH — Anyone 18 and older is invited to the second annual Party Through the Decades event for door prizes, a cash bar, music and dancing, costume contests and more at Edwards Township Hall Saturday, Oct. 13.

Committee member Vicki Seltz Barnes, also a volunteer for Hospice of Helping Hands, said last year’s event raised more than $4,000.

“So this year we’re doing it again because it was a lot of fun,” she said. “And we raised a lot of funds last year.”

Seltz Barnes said there will be music and fashion from different decades, and people are encouraged to dress up to represent their favorite decade.

“We even had some people come in Halloween costumes last year because it was in October,”

she said.

The event will also have a 50-50 cash drawing and balloon pop auction. Prizes were donated by various local and non-local vendors, including Chateau Chantal in Traverse City, West Branch Cinema 3 and more, Seltz Barnes said.

MidMichigan Medical Center - West Branch Health Access Coordinator Pete Jackson will be dressed as Wolfman Jack and will be the DJ for the evening, she said.

People can purchase tickets ahead of time to be entered into the early bird ticket prize drawing. Tickets can be purchased for $15 or $25 for two people at 322 W. Houghton Ave. in West Branch, where the event will take place.

The fundraiser benefits patients and families of the nonprofit company, which serves Ogemaw, Oscoda, Arenac, Gladwin, Roscommon, Iosco and Crawford counties.

“We are not funded by anything but donations that we raise,” Seltz Barnes said. “So we do fundraisers throughout the year to raise those. We don’t turn away patients for their lack of ability to pay, and there’s a cost to that.”

She said the group likes to give back to the community because it has been supportive.

The event is set to run from 6-10 p.m.
