Lorraine Marie Kowalczyk, 77, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019, at The Villa at Rose City. She lived in West Branch for 50 years, formerly of Standish.

Lorraine was born Nov. 3, 1941, in Standish to Floyd and Reva (Lemmer) Haas. She was one of the first certified women firefighters in Michigan and served on the Clear Lake Fire Department. She was a member of the Rods and Relics Club. Lorraine enjoyed singing and dancing, walking and talking, her dog, reading, bird watching and spending time with her grandchildren.

Lorraine is survived by her sons, Ken (Karen) Kowalczyk of New Baltimore, Keith (Vicki) Kowalczyk of West Branch and Kevin (Amy) Kowalczyk of West Branch; daughter, Kelly (Brad) Whiting of West Branch; grandchildren, Kyle, Kurtis, Jenean, Jazman, Bret, Gail, Ivy, Journey, Rodney, Roger, Hope and Cole; and seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Linda (Earl) Steinbauer of Standish.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Kowalczyk; and son, Kirk Kowalczyk.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, from 1-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home Saturday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. with visitation starting at 10 a.m. The Rev. Pastor Rodney Morrison will officiate.
