Joy Ellen Reed, 82, left us to be with her Lord Dec. 28, 2018, at McLaren hospital with family by her side.

Joy was born to Keith and Verda Pratt in Drayton Plains on June 28, 1936. Joy married Roger Reed Aug. 24, 1973.

Joy touched the lives of many people. She was known as Grandma Joy to hundreds of toddlers through the years, as she worked in Sunday school programs at the Free Methodist church in West Branch. She always had a smile and hug for her “Joy Bells” and a great Bible story to go with it. Later on in her years she worked with Whispering Hope Ranch Ministries, giving hugs and words of encouragement to campers. Joy was involved in sharing Jesus through her life.

She is survived by her husband, Roger Reed; her children, Matt (Michelle) Bedtelyon, Luke (Cheryl) Bedtelyon, David (Chris) Bedtelyon, Melody (Cal) Kemp and Kirk (Kim) Bedtelyon; stepkids, Dan Reed, Sally (Rob) Reid, Sandy Crawford and Randy Reed; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and siblings, June (Dean) Edwards, Gail Brock, Darwin Pratt, Roger (Judy) Pratt and Slade Pratt.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Jan. 19 at Ogemaw Hills Free Methodist Church, with visitation at 10 a.m. A luncheon will follow the memorial service.

Memorial contributions can be made in Joy’s memory to the nonprofit ministry Whispering Hope Ranch, 659 Mayhew Rd., Rose City, MI 48654.
