John A. Muenz

John Anthony Muenz, 80, of Prescott passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at his home.

John was born Sept. 21, 1937, to his loving parents, John and Thelma Muenz. He married his sweetheart, Beverly, on July 28, 1956, in Detroit. John served in the U.S. Navy and was a diver. After being honorably discharged, he worked for the phone company for 35 years until he retired. John enjoyed boating and scuba diving, in which he became a PADI master diver, and was also an avid hunter. He was an award-winning trap shooter at the Oakland County Sportsmen’s Club. John joined the Knights of Columbus in 1964 and was a 23-year member of the Holy Family K of C Council 8948. He volunteered at the West Branch Regional Medical Center for years and earned Volunteer of the Year in 2017.

John is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Beverly; sons, John (Robin) Muenz, Douglas (Mary) Muenz and Scott Muenz; daughter, Deborah Lotan; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Thelma Muenz; sister, Judith; and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Muenz.

Memorial gathering at the Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin Thursday, June 7, 2018, from 3-8 p.m. with a K of C rosary at 7 p.m. Celebration of life service will be Friday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will take place one hour prior to service at the church. Deacon Glen Painter will officiate.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Villa at West Branch or Hospice Compassus of West Branch.
