Frances Velma Currie, 90, of Whittemore passed away March 5, 2017, at Lakeview Manor in Tawas City.

She was born May 17, 1926, in Saginaw to the late Frederick and Emma (Barnum) Caverly. She married Edgar Currie on Sept. 29, 1942. Frances was a member of the Hale American Legion and a proud 13-year member of TOPS.

Frances is survived by her loving children, JoAnn (Earl) Sass of Port Huron, Edgar (Barbara) Currie of Whittemore, James Currie of Whittemore, Jerry (Murial) Currie of Au Gres, Pamela (Robert) Warren of Mayville and John (Paula) Currie of Whittemore; 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Patricia) Bellanger of Prescott; sister-in-law, Pauline Caverly of Omer; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Currie; infant son, Billy Currie; son, Daniel Currie; daughter-in-law, Margaret Currie; and siblings, Joseph Caverly, Fred Caverly, Alex Caverly and Wanetta Buck.

According to Frances’ wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held Saturday April 1, 2017, at noon at the Hale Chapel of Buresh Funeral Homes, 121 S. Washington, Hale, MI 48739, with visitation hours from 10 a.m. to noon. She will be laid to rest in Logan Township Cemetery next to her husband.
