Emerald Laverne Lentner, 88, of Prescott passed away at his home Friday, June 9, 2017.

Emerald was born May 3, 1929, in Maple Ridge to the late Edgar L. and Neva (Clayton) Lentner. Emerald grew up in the Turner area. On March 14, 1951, he married his sweetheart, Joyce Bowen. Emerald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 where he served in the 174th military police battalion. He was later transferred to California in 1951 and served in Yucca Flats, Nev., at the Atomic Energy Commission. Emerald operated a gas station in Prescott for several years and also worked at Industrial Brown Hoist and American Hoist and Derrick.

Emerald enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially his fishing trips to Canada. He served on the Richland Township Fire Department from 1956-1989. He was a member of the American Legion and the Skidway Lake Moose Lodge.

Emerald was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Bowen) Lentner; and his children, Jerry Lentner and Jeanie Lentner.

He is survived by his brother-in-law, Roger (Sandra) Bowen of Sterling. He was blessed with many friends in Michigan and in Florida.

Visitation for Emerald will take place from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at Buresh Funeral Home, 101 E. Harrison, Prescott, MI 48756. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 15, at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home.
