With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Donna Lee Sherman, 69, our loving and devoted mother, wife and friend to all whose lives she touched, on March 8, 2019. She left us while sleeping peacefully at her residence in Alger.

Donna was born in Beloit, Wis., in 1949 to Donald and Rosalie Healy. Her family moved to Spring Arbor when she was 5 years old, while her father went to Spring Arbor College to become a Free Methodist minister. Her father’s ministry took Donna and family many places during her childhood. She lived in Grayling, Hillman, Linwood and finally Porter, where she graduated from Breckenridge High School. She went on to attend Spring Arbor College after high school.

Donna met the love of her life, Tom Sherman, when they were both 12 years old in the Linwood Free Methodist Church when her family was living in the Linwood area. Donna and Tom were married Oct. 18, 1972, in Sanford. Donna and Tom went on to have four children, Laura, Matthew, Brent and Katelynn. Donna and family went on to live in Oscoda, Linwood, Linden, Standish and then finally Alger.

Donna had various jobs throughout the years, mainly cleaning houses and taking clients to doctor’s appointments. She also served several years on the PTO at Sterling Elementary. Donna’s favorite things were being outside in the woods in the fall watching the colors change, worshipping and singing the Lord’s praise, her children, grandchildren and her numerous pets throughout the years.

Donna is survived by her husband of 46 years, Thomas Sherman; four children, Laura (Cliff) Cottrell of Prescott, Matthew (Andrea) Sherman of Alger, Brent (Tracy) Sherman of Gladwin and Katelynn Montney of Alger; 10 grandchildren, Elizabeth, Elijah, Ezekial, Joziah, Avangalina, Adriannah, Adelyna, Brayson, Peytan and Maximus; siblings, Richard Healy, Ronald Healy and Patricia (Oral) Carper; sister-in-law, Carol DeLano; and brothers-in-law, Robert (Sally) Sherman and Melvin Sherman.

The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral parlor of Lee-Ramsay, 107 E. Second St., Pinconning, Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16, from noon to 1 p.m. with the funeral service at 1 p.m. at the funeral parlor.
