Bikers 4 Kids Fun Day to be held at Irons Park

WEST BRANCH –– The annual Bikers 4 Kids Fun Day will be held Saturday, June 17, for families in the community to partake in food, activities and drawings at no cost.

This year, for the first time, the event will be held at Irons Park in West Branch. It will include two bounce houses and many games including a ring toss, tic-tac-toe, a sack race, a doughnut-eating contest and water balloons to be thrown at Bikers 4 Kids President Chuck Charbeneau.

“It was just time to go to Irons Park and make things bigger and better for everybody,” Charbeneau said. “We want to let the kids have even more fun with the park stuff there and to show the community we’re here for the kids and they’re the most important thing.”

The event is being coordinated by Bikers 4 Kids members Carla Reeves and Tonyea Fulkerson Kamischke.

“This is the first time in Irons Park,” Reeves said. “We’ve had it behind Dean’s Bait & Tackle for years, so we’re hoping for a good turnout and good weather.”

According to Charbeneau, the organization will be giving away 11 bikes through drawings during the event, which each child in attendance will be entered in. Several of the bikes were donated by local businesses while some were donated by Bikers 4 Kids through fundraising efforts throughout the year.

“We’re giving away 10 bikes this year, which is huge for us,” Charbeneau said. “Then we’re giving away a loser bike. The kids that win bikes, they’re not in the losers draw, so the last ticket we pull will get the loser bike. It’s something different for the kids.”

Charbeneau said last year 85-100 kids attended and he was hoping to double that number this year since the event will be held in a bigger area.

There will be free hot dogs, snow cones, popcorn, chips, soda, water and other snacks for attendees to enjoy.

Reeves said the organization always hosts the fun day on the same weekend every year.

“We always have it the day before Father’s Day,” Reeves said. “It’s a family day where we can allow our community families to get together, go out and have fun and not have it cost any money.”

The fun day is scheduled to go from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and is open to families with children 3-12 years old. Irons Park is located off South Valley Street. For more information, call Charbeneau at 989-709-6813 or visit the Bikers 4 Kids Facebook page.
