Barbara E. (Gardner) Way

Died Aug. 1, 2018


Barbara Elaine (Gardner) Way, 79, went peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, after a brief illness.

Barbara was born Feb. 16, 1939, in Port Huron to Gerald and Margarette (Patrick) Gardner. She grew up in Port Huron and met the love of her life there, Kenneth Way. She attended St. Paul Bible College (now Crown College) in St. Paul, Minn. Barbara was a retired bank teller, having worked for several banks. She was a former member of the Cornerstone Alliance Church in Pontiac, where she served as church pianist and other musical ministries. She was currently a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Ken Way of Gladwin; daughters, Rebecca (Steve) Rine of Gladwin and Connie (Mike) Brown of Byron; sisters, Gail Smith of Brown City and Martha (David Sr.) McLaren of Peck; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Gerald Gardner; mother, Margarette (Patrick) Gardner; sister, Linda Gardner; and son, Timothy B. Way.

Visitation at Steuernol & McLaren Funeral Home in West Branch will begin Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, from 5-9 p.m. Viewing at Calvary Baptist Church in West Branch will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, with the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Baptist Cemetery. Pastor Tom Teall will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Calvary Christian Academy, 235 Minzer Court, West Branch, MI 48661.
