Two arraigned on armed robbery charges
WEST BRANCH –– Two people were arraigned for an armed robbery that allegedly occurred at The Trails at West Branch Feb. 15.
Karshawn Brown, 20, and Ronde Chambers, 21, both of Flint, were arrested and arraigned in 82nd District Court on two counts of armed robbery and one count of possession of a firearm at the time of the alleged robbery. Brown was arrested Feb. 24 and arraigned Feb. 27 while Chambers was arrested March 7 and arraigned March 8.
Officer Michael Godfrey told the Herald previously that a couple reported they were robbed at gunpoint in their apartment by two black males. The two witnesses were reportedly forced to lie on the ground as the suspects allegedly stole $400 and two cell phones before driving off in a red Pontiac passenger vehicle.
Godfrey said the department was on the lookout for the red vehicle when another witness came forward with a similar story. The witness stated they allegedly saw two black males exit a blue Mercury Mariner and enter the apartment. Shortly after, the suspects reportedly ran out of the apartment and got back into the vehicle, where a black female driver was waiting for them.
The incident occurred at around 2 p.m.
Both suspects could face a potential life sentence if convicted.
Bond for each suspect was set at $500,000 cash or surety. Brown’s probable cause conference was held March 9 in 82nd District Court and Chambers is scheduled for a probable cause conference March 16.
The city police are still working to identify the female driver at this time. No more information is available at this time.
